Radar applications for target detection and tracking

individuazione bersagli

The X-band radars employed by IREA researchers to estimate the sea-state parameters and the surface currents was originally developed to carry out maritime surveillance tasks.

As a matter of fact, an appropriate processing of data provided by such systems allows us to get in real-time a reliable estimate of the targets' state (position and velocity) up to distances of dozens of kilometers from the radar. Moreover, by exploiting high resolution data it is also possible to retrieve information about the shape and the dimension of the observed targets.
