Activity
Dr Gianluca Persichetti is a physicist. He is currently senior researcher at the Institute for Electromagnetic Sensing of the Environment (IREA) of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR). A primary focus of his work is the development optofluidic sensors based on Raman and fluorescence spectroscopy. Another part of his activity is aimed at the development of sensors based on optical waveguides, ranging from optical fiber sensors to polymer waveguides manufactured by photolithographic processes. |
Curriculum
Gianluca Persichetti obtained a degree in Physics from the University of Naples Federico II, and a PhD in "Innovative Technologies for Materials, Sensors and Imaging" from the same University. He carried out research for 4 years at the Department of Physics of the University of Naples Federico II and as an associate at the INFN section of Naples, where he collaborated on the creation of a suspended Michelson interferometer, a simplified prototype of the interferometer used in VIRGO experiment for the detection of gravitational waves, also taking care of the development and testing of sensors and actuators used for its digital control. He is currently senior researcher at the Institute for Electromagnetic Sensing of the Environment (IREA) of the National Research Council (CNR). He is an expert in optical spectroscopic techniques, in particular Raman and fluorescence spectroscopy. One of the main objectives of his research activity concerns the development of optofluidic sensors based on spectroscopic techniques and the development of sensors that exploit optical methodologies for the detection of chemical, biochemical and physical parameters. Another part of his activity is aimed at the development of lab-on-chip sensors that use polymeric structures produced by photolithographic processes.
