Concerning the applications, the experimental results may be useful for the revision of the exposure limits to electromagnetic fields. As a matter of fact, the current limits, set by the European Commission and national legislation for the general population exposure to electromagnetic fields in the range 0 Hz-300 GHz, are based on thermal effects. Although in the current state of knowledge, the exposure limits ensure health safety, they do not take into account the non-thermal biological effects, that potentially may occur especially in the case of medium and long exposure.
