Attività

Le attività di ricerca si inquadrano nell’ambito della diagnostica elettromagnetica.

In particolare, esse riguardano:

  • metodi di soluzione per i problemi di diffusione elettromagnetica diretti;
  • metodi di soluzione per i problemi di diffusione elettromagnetica inversi;
  • tomografia a microonde per indagini georadar;¬†
  • imaging a microonde per applicazioni biomedicali
  • applicazioni terapeutiche dei campi elettromagnetici

Lorenzo Crocco è nato a Napoli il 18 febbraio 1971, laureato con lode in Ingegneria Elettronica nel 1995 presso l’Università degli Studi di Napoli "Federico II", consegue presso la stessa università il titolo di Dottore di Ricerca in Elettromagnetismo Applicato, nel gennaio 2000.

In servizio dal marzo 2001 come Ricercatore, dal 2010 è Primo Ricercatore presso l’IREA-CNR, nell’ambito del gruppo di Diagnostica Elettromagnetica.

Dal 2009 al 2012 è stato Professore a contratto presso l’Università degli Studi Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria, tenendo corsi di Propagazione e Diagnostica Elettromagnetica. Presso la stessa università, dal 2011 è membro del collegio di dottorato in Ingegneria dell'Informazione.

Le attivit√† di ricerca si inquadrano nell‚Äôambito della diagnostica elettromagnetica ed in particolare riguardano lo sviluppo e la messa a punto di approcci di soluzione ai problemi di diffusione elettromagnetica diretti ed inversi. In particolare, l‚Äôattenzione √® posta verso l‚Äôutilizzo d tali approcci nella diagnostica non invasiva, nei sondaggi georadar e nell‚Äôimaging biomedicale a microonde. Pi√Ļ recentemente, l'attivit√† √® stata anche rivolta allo studio di metodologie innovative per la sintesi di sistemi radianti per applicazioni terapeutiche dei campi elettromagnetici.

Relativamente a tali tematiche, Lorenzo Crocco è stato responsabile scientifico di diversi progetti di ricerca, autore di numerose pubblicazioni su rivista internazionale (peer-review) e guest editor di numeri speciali. Inoltre, è stato co-chairman del workshop internazionale IWAGPR2007 e technical chair del XIII International Conference on Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR2010). Dal 2013, è membro del Management Committee dell'azione COST TD1301 sull'utilizzo dell'imaging a microonde in ambito medicale. In particolare, è anche Workgroup Leader per le attivtià che riguardano le nuove applicazioni delle microonde in questo contesto.

Lorenzo Crocco √® Senior Member dell‚ÄôIEEE e Fellow of The Electromagnetics Academy (TEA), ha ricevuto il premio ‚ÄúBarzilai‚ÄĚ dalla Societ√† Italiana di Elettormagnetismo (2004) e il Young Scientist Award alla XXVIII URSI General Assembly di New Delhi, India (2005). Nel 2009, √® stato selezionato tra i cento migliori giovani ricercatori (under 40) del CNR.
